| Azad in Delhi, no rumours please! | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Nov 26 Each time Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad visits Delhi, the rumour mill starts churning overtime guessing consultations with the Congress high command for long overdue cabinet expansion. Interestingly, Azad has been off to Delhi about a hundreds times since August last year –when he inducted some new ministers –but the much awaited expansion has not taken place. This time when Azad is again in the Union Capital, his official spokesman has sought to inform all that the Chief Minister is there "to push the development schemes for Jammu and Kashmir". The official spokesman this time carefully avoided mentioned as who did the Chief Minister meet in Delhi and who all he will be meeting the next day as this would again have set the rumor mill in motion. The official spokesman said that the has made a strong case for inclusion of Srinagar and Jammu in the central government's mega plan of constructing bridges, bye-passes, flyovers and ring roads in densely populated cities of the country and urged the union ministry of transport to earmark Rs. 600 crores for the purpose. Azad, who is in the union capital pushing development schemes for the State with Government of India, urged the ministry of transport to include Srinagar and Jammu in the scheme as a special case and keeping in with the traffic congestion on the two capital cities' roads. The Chief Minister exuded confidence that his request for the inclusion of the State's two main cities in the country's ambitious programme and provision of funds to the tune of Rs. 600 crore would be acceded. He said construction of bridges, flyovers, bye-passes and ring roads would smoothen traffic flow on the otherwise crowded roads of the capital cities and facilitate commuters. |
