11/27/2007 10:22:40 PM

Mehndar | Nov 27: The Bandh call given by Pahari Employees Welfare Forum (PECWF) here today received a partial response as the day witnessed routine business in local markets with public transport plying on all routes. However, the forum activists forced closure of government offices and schools at some places.
The Phari Employees Welfare Forum (PECWF) had given a strike call to press its demand for scheduled Tribe status for Pahari speaking people. The Forum has also decided to boycott the Haveli Poonch by Elections.
The day began with routine activity across the town with sporadic incidents of forcible closure of schools and offices at various places by the activists of the Forum. The business community and transporters however did not pay much heed to the call as all markets were seen doing usual business with public transport plying on all the routes.
The activists of the forum also held a protest demonstration and shouted slogans in support of their demand.
The protest was led by Phari Employees Welfare Forum (PECWF) district president A Rashid Khan.
