| VLCC flags off pan-India anti obesity drive | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Nov 27 VLCC Health Care as part of its annual initiative launched its exclusive Wellness Meter Check. This is to mark the anti- obesity day which is observed year after year on the 26th of November .This initiative is aimed at gauging the wellness quotient of employees across sectors and recommending customized health programmes to ensure corporate health in India. Year 2007 would usher in a national movement with 500 top corporates across the country that would culminate the same time in 2008. The stress of modern life, sedentary jobs, unhealthy eating habits and lack of adequate exercise are some of the factors that have led to the world wide increase in various life style diseases and India is no exception. Most people are unaware that obesity can lead to diseases like diabetes, cancer, stroke back & joint pains, osteoporosis, fatty liver, depression, difficulty in sleeping and infertility. Unless the problem of obesity and its related ailments is addressed vigorously, it will create a series of public health problems. VLCC has always pioneered and endevoured to provide sciencetific and efficient health management solutions, this is one step forwarded in the same directions. Corporates such as NIIT, American Express, Tech Mahindra, Spicejet, WNS, Kotak, Airtel would be part of this year long campaign and will be initiated into all activity leading to its 360 0 wellness approach. Live demonstration and presentation on innovative dermatological procedures like 'Botox, Chemical Peeling etc. by senior Dermatologist Dr. Sushant Shetty, Vice President-Beauty services, VLCC Health Care Limited, was given on the occasion. Speaking at the launch function senior Dermatologist Dr. Sushant Shetty, Vice-President-Beauty services , VLCC Health Care stated-"alarming figures have been quoted by the world health records wherein it has been noted that over the next 10 years, India may lose more than $200 billion due to employees sickness. As a responsible corporate VLCC would like to take this pan India campaign as its preventive Health Care responsibility, to counter the estimated loss to India national income from disease and promote healthy work force that would ensure a fitter and a healthier India. |
