| NREGS a failure, only blue eyed preferred alleges Bhagat | | ‘Release six month free ration and cash compensation to BPL and fire victim families’ | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Nov 27 Expressing serious concern over drought and long dry spell in Ramban Constituency resulting in total loss of Kharif crops, BJP State Gen. Secretary & Ex-MLA Bali Bhagat demanded six month free ration and cash compensation to the effected population immediately. Bali Bhagat also urged the government to order conducting of special Girdawari for the purpose. He was interacting with people during his 15- day extensive on foot visit of the far-flung areas of Ghi, Thana, Chander Bhatan, Bhatta, Malan, Saras, Gurmul, Dhandal and Ziyani etc. He also demanded for arranging free fodder to save cattle wealth and augmenting drinking water supply in the constituency where most of the water resources have dried up due to long dry spell. Bali Bhagat also charged that National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) has failed to take off in the constituency and the job card holders have not been provided the mandatory 100 days wages employment as envisaged in the act because of non-execution of works. He demanded that immediate measures be taken to release the pending payments of the job card holders, wherever works have been done to save them from economic hardships. He said that most of the areas in the hilly-belt like Dessa have no provision of electricity and demanded installation of solar lights to facilitate the population of the area. |
