| HC imposes Rs 10000 cost upon state | | Sawalkote Power Project case | | Early Times Reporter

In the much publicized 1200 MW Sawlakote Power Project on river Chenab in Doda District of Jammu Division, Justice JP Singh of J&K High Court Jammu Wing, today took serious note of the State functionaries seeking adjournment, has granted last opportunity to the State subject to the payment of Rs 10000 as costs.
Much publicized Sawlakote Power Project costing Euro 763 Million (exchange rate of Rs 53 for 1 Euro) was listed before Justice JP Singh for hearing on the request of Additional Advocate General Mr. AH Qazi appearing for the State respondents, seeking adjournment on the ground that Sr. Counsel who had to appear in the case has not reached. The counsel appearing for the petitioner contractor M/S Sawalkote Prosjektutviklingas and Ors M/S Ritu Balla and Pranav Kohli Advocates opposed the adjournment application.
Justice JP Singh later adjourned the case in the interests of justice, providing last opportunity to the State to conclude its submissions in the case. This adjournment shall, however, subject to payment of Rs 10,000 as costs, Court ordered. |
