| Qazi shying away from attending office in Secretariat | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Nov 27 Stripped of his forest portfolio Qazi Mohd Afzal is shying away from attending office in the civil secretariat building in his capacity as Housing and Urban development Minister. Sources in the civil secretariat confirmed ever since the durbar move offices reopened in Jammu PDP minister, apparently unhappy with the PDP leadership and Chief Minister for not deciding his fate ,is yet to turn up in his office located on second floor of the secretariat building. Large number of people who regularly visit civil secretariat building spot his name plate hanging outside his office door because the chief Minister has not so far accepted his resignation. The latest scene is that the peon of the Minister who used to sit outside the room spends his office hour while snoozing in a chair inside the office chambers of Qazi Mohd Afzal. In his absence, according to the civil secretariat sources, the work relating to the Housing and Urban development department is being looked after by the Minister of State Ajaz Ahmed Khan. The Chief Minister is said to be looking after the forest portfolio. Qazi Mohd Afzal was stripped of the forest portfolio in September 2007 following complaints of irregularities in the forest department and the forest corporation. The Chief Minister had constituted a high level committed headed by the then Financial commissioner BR Kundal to probe in to these irregualties.Mr Kundal has already submitted his report to the Chief Minister but the findings of the report have not been made public. Qazi seems to be unhappy with both the Chief Minister and the leadership of the PDP , to which he belongs to, because the former has neither accepted his resignation nor restored forest portfolio to him and the latter for not having taken up his case with Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad. Qazi Mohd Afzal has already announced that he will neither resume his duties as a cabinet minister nor attend any cabinet meeting till the forest portfolio was given back to him. He has said that those who were involve din these irregularities the govt has taken action against them and by restoring Forest portfolio to him he simply wanted to convince the people in his constituency that his hands were clean. |
