Assailing National Conference Patron and former Chief Minister for double stance as regards accession of the State with India, State Samajwadi Party has accused Dr. Farooq Abdullah for playing gimmickry and raising irrelevant issues to further exploit the people from the Valley.
In a joint statement issued here today, Ram Prakash Sharma and Sham Lal Manhas General Secretary and State Secretary, while condemning the recent statement of Dr. Abdullah wherein he is reported to have said that ‘he has to think afresh over the accession of State with the Indian Union’, said there is general tendency among the Kashmiri politicians that when in power they speak in favour of accession of Jammu and Kashmir, terming it as final and irrevocable, but once out of power they speak otherwise.
‘ The statement further said that Dr. Farooq Abdullah is no exception and often seen taking ‘U-turn’ on this vital issue, which stands settled not only as back as in 1947, but has also been re-endorsed following Indira-Sheikh Accord of 1975, which brought Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah back to power in 1975.
The SP leaders also accused Dr. Abdullah for raising the issue of ‘Vande Matram’ as also airing venom against Jammuites as a dangerous game plan to win back the support of majority community at the next elections. These leaders warned NC Patron and his son and Party president, Omar Abdullah to refrain from such irrelevant issues which could not work as the public, by and large, have known them and their opportunistic game plan, these leaders added.
