| Racket pertaining tampering of answer sheets unearthed | | ‘Impersonators’ selection being cancelled’ | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Nov 28 Crime Branch has registered a case against four accused persons allegedly involved in tampering of the answer sheets of four candidates, who appeared in the recent entrance examination to give them undue benefit. According to a Crime Branch spokesman the investigations so far conducted reveal that State Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (BOPEE) conducted Common Entrance Test 2007 (CET) on August 11 and12, 2007 of which the result was prepared by some confidential agency and declared on August 25. As per the procedure the re-totaling of marks was done and while re- totaling process, the OMR sheets (answer sheets) of four candidates were found suspicious. It has further revealed that there was a discrepancy between the OMR (answer sheets) scanned by the agency at the time of compiling of results and OMR sheets at present in respect of four candidates. The tempering has allegedly been done by the ad hoc employees of the BOPEE and the accused have confessed that they managed to obtain the OMR sheets of above mentioned candidates and took them to some unknown place where the OMR sheets were tempered and marked again, the spokesman added. They have further disclosed that all this was done at the behest of the parents of candidates who promised them permanent jobs in the State in lieu of help rendered by them in tampering the OMR sheets for the candidates. It had also appeared that the candidates have left many circles of their OMR sheets unmarked to temper later on that indicates their pre-planned strategy and criminal intent. The spokesman further revealed that another case of similar nature was earlier registered by the Crime Branch against some candidates for alleged impersonation, the investigation of which has been completed and will be produced in the court of Law for judicial determination. The concerned Board has been approached for cancellation of the selection of those candidates involved in impersonation, the spokesman added. |
