Jammu | Nov 27
Though no polling season is on cards right now but the political barometer is rising with the heated political activities in the winter capital of the state these days. Within the tug of war between the two major allies the Congress and the PDP over demilitarization issue and withdrawal of JKNPP over Talwara immigrant issue, the national parties BSP and Samajawadi Party too have started toeing their grounds in the simmering political state.
Not only the mainstream national political parties like Congress, BJP, Janta Dal (U) and Samajwadi Party but the regional political parties namely National Conference and the People's Democratic Party are busy in setting stages for their leaders during the chill of November.
If Congress has set stages for chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad on Children's Day on November 14 and on November 19 to mark the anniversaries of late prime ministers in a big way even officially with goading the State Sewa Dal (Congress) and other frontal organizations to restart party membership campaigns in full swing. Things wouldn’t stop here as the BJP too has pulled up its socks and sleeves to join the big game though with its veteran players the ex union Minister Prof Chaman Lal Gupta and the state president Ashok Khajuria. The state BJP too has set stages for the party through their BJYM membership drive and the frequent party workers meet on one or the other day.
Active participation of patron National Conference and former chief minister Farooq Abdullah who became active after a long hibernation has infact set the tongue wagering in the political circles. His recent remarks ‘over rethinking of accession of state’ may have been seen a gift of gab to the JKNPP and BJP in the Jammu Region but certainly put the party in the driving seat in the valley where Congress and PDP along with its ally PDF is facing tough times on various Kashmir related issues and problems.
Political observers in the state have different opinion on the recent remarks from Senior Abdullah – the Dr Farooq Abdullah as some feel it will give a set back but the majority opinioned Dr Farooq is not so insane to utter this at this crucial juncture and thus probably thinking a lot over the past and the recent and the future of the party he had opened up his lips in this harsh tone.
In some media section, he had been typecast as a chameleon but if is so some out rightly rejected the idea and said that he is the most powerful and intellect personality in the state and even beat many of his political counterparts if put to ‘play a political chess’ he even can win the game with single pawn in his hand and yet had deliberately missed the chance to checkmate the coalition through his best deals on he political chessboard.
Within all this blame games within the coalition allies and the other political rivals the PDP leadership is yet stuck to its guns to like healing touch to dependents of militants advocating for their no fault but if any one religiously ponders over the idea one wrong from a member of family makes his generations to face the cost and why the party juts like a holy seer wishes to wash their sins in just one go.
While the NC and the Congress have been keen in keeping their fortress stronger than ever with frequent visits by their senior leaders and holding of party worker’s conventions at the same time the PDP keeping well within its territory has put its best efforts to the Muslim dominant regions like Rajouri, Poonch, Doda and Kargil. The party leaders and the cadre keeping its cards closed to rim of table playing the politics very slowly and thoughtfully.
However smaller parties though failed to mark their presence in the last assembly Polls-2002 too have been the players of this active game in lodging criticism to their political rivals.
Samajwadi Party under the leadership of veteran political figure Sheikh Abdul Rehman ex MP and state president SP castigated the present leadership for giving its nod to increase in wages of MLAs instead looking for solution for the unemployment and the alienation of youth from the mainstream. Within the war of allegation and counter allegations from the various political parties these days, the people in state are apprehending mid term/pre mature polls. A million-dollar question in all sane minds is that if the honeymoon of the coalition allies to provide an alternative government is over or we heading towards a historic decision of Five-Year Assembly under the new chief minister's leadership.
