| Additional ward of CHC R S Pora inaugurated | | ‘8000 additional beds being added in state run hospitals’: Mangat | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Nov 29 Government is creating additional 8000 beds in various health institutions across the state, which on completion, would raise the total bed strength in hospitals to 30,000. This was stated by Minister for Health and Medical Education Mangat Ram Sharma while inaugurating additional ward of 10 beds in Community Health Centre at R. S. Pura today. The Minister also distributed first aid kits among 258 Accredited Social and Health Activists (ASHA)of the area on the occasion. Highlighting the role of ASHA workers, Health Minister said that the Health Department has imparted systematic training to more than 10,000 ASHAS in a bid to streamline availability of health services in all peripheral areas. He called upon ASHAS to render their services to the masses wholeheartedly especially during immunization drives. He said that national Rural Health Mission would go a long way in providing health care facilities to rural population, adding the mission primarily focuses on mother-child-healthcare through ASHA workers who act as link between the targeted beneficiaries and zonal health care centres. He said the programme besides envisaging provisions for providing health care facilities at the doorsteps of the rural people has also provided employment to a large number of girls. Mangat said as many as 87 hospital buildings of Primary Health Centres (PHCs), Community Health Centres (CHCs), District Hospitals and others are presently under construction across the state. The step aims at developing planned infrastructure in consonance with government policy of providing improved medicare to the people of the state. He said that the government has taken up a number of steps to equip all the health institutions with modern medical gadgetry alongside augmenting other infrastructure. Local MLAs Ch. Gharu Ram and Suman Bhagat also addressed on the occasion and hailed the steps taken by the government for improving health care facilities in the area. |
