| 'Shakti Sadan’ completes its third batch | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Nov 29 'Shakti Sadan’, The Vocational Training Cum Women Empowerment Centre completed training of its third batch today. Amidst parents of the trainees and a modest gathering, Mrs Usha Panjikar, President Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA), Counter Insurgency Force (Uniform) distributed the certificates to the thirty trainees who went through two months of training curriculum. Each trainees was imparted vocational training in five major disciplines ie Tailoring, Knitting, Candle making, Food Processing and Computers. In addition, all students were given women empowerment training in Personal Grooming, Handicrafts and Aganwari aspects. Women Trainees were upbeat and confident as they prepare to get back to their villages. Interacting with them, Mrs Panjikar asked them to go back to their villages, train and encourage other weak and needy ones to join the training in ‘Shakti Sadan’. The training in Shakti Sadan will help in ultimate empowerment of women in the remotest areas of Jammu and Kashmir. Training of the Fourth batch is scheduled to commence with effect from 14 January 2008. |
