Gurmeet Kumar of High School Gole Gujral won the long distance race of 3000 mts in under-17 year boys group on the opening day of the annual inter-school athletics meet of Jammu district which went underway at University of Jammu tracks, here today.
Second place went to Joni Kumar of Higher Secondary School Pargwal while Ashwani Kumar of Higher Secondary School Paloura finished third.
Earlier, the three-day athletics meet in boys section was declared open by Deputy Director Youth Services and Sports, S A Wani.

Under-17 yr boys: Shot Put: Ganesh Paul, Hs Dhakkar, Ist; Balvinder Singh, HSS Pallanwala, 2nd and Raju Kumar, HSS RS Pura, third. Javelion Throw: Mukesh Kumar, HSS Jullakha Mohalla, Ist; Sandeep Sharma, HSS Jourian, 2nd and Devinder Singh, HSS Dablehar, third. Long Jump: Manish Bhatt, SOS Gole Gujral, Ist; Rakesh Kumar, HS Allaha, 2nd and Gagan Paul Singh, HSS Domana, third.
Under-14 yr boys: 600 mts race: Rohit Singh Bhau, KC Public, Ist; Ravjot Singh, MHAC Nagbani, 2nd and Satish Kumar, Middle School Bishnah, third. Shot Put: Arnav Sharma, KC Public, Ist; Sanjeev Motton, HS Davipur, 2nd and Jagdaman Singh, SOS Gole Gujral, third. Long Jump: Daleep Gandotra, MS Sumbli, Ist; Rohit Singh, KC Public, 2nd and Stanzin, MHAC Nagbani, third.
