| Press Club wins by 23-run in Champions Trophy | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Nov 29 An all round performance by Ashok today helped Press Club XI register a comfortable 23 runs victory over Lions Cricket Club (LCC) to advance into the next round of ongoing 5th JK Champions Trophy cricket tournament at GGM Science College ground, here. Ashok, who earlier contributed 35 runs, later bowled economical spell to claim two wickets for just nine runs. Earlier, batting first, Press Club XI lost all their wickets for 138 runs in 24.5 overs of the 25 overs match, which, in reply, LCC could not chase and bowled out for 115 runs in 24.4 overs. Besides Ashok, Showkat also played fine innings of 26 runs. But it was extras that contributed maximum of 36 runs. From LCC, Bunty bagged three wickets for 20 runs while Babu Ram took two for nine. Batting second, LCC could not maintain the required run rate and later in an attempt to add quick runs lost wickets thereby making an end to their innings at 115 in the last over. Amit remained the highest scorer with 33 runs, followed by Hardip, who contributed 15 runs. Ashish was most successful bowler from Press Club, who bagged four wickets. Ashok clinched two. Later, Ashok was adjudged man of the match for his all round performance. The Champions Trophy is being organized by the Talab Tillo Cricket Club. |
