Peace more important for J-K

People in Jammu and Kashmir are more concerned about peace than a change of guard in Pakistan.
They said they wanted lasting peace in the region.
"People living in the border area think that if tomorrow cross firing begins, we might have to move to some other place. So, we want peace in the region," said Sethi Sharma, a villager.
Villagers said whosoever is there in power in Pakistan tries to scuttle peace in the region.
"Whenever there are internal disturbances in Pakistan, disturbances are also felt here. Ceasefire has been on since last four years. Recently, there was firing in the Poonch district, thus the ceasefire was broken. Whoever is in power whether it is Musharraf or Benazir or anybody else, their only motive is to disturb peace in India," said Ramesh Kumar, another villager.
Pakistan President General Pervez Musharraf stepped down as chief of the army on Wednesday after 46 years of military service. He will be sworn-in as the country's civilian President for a second five-year term on Thursday.
Musharraf passed the baton of command to General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani, who took charge as 14th Chief of Pakistan Army.
With giving up of the Army Chief post, Musharraf has fulfilled one of the long standing demand of his political rivals and Western allies, who have been insisting on him to take off the uniform which Musharraf has referred to as his "second skin" and become a civilian president ahead of national elections in January.
