BJP rejects the CPI-ANC hypothesis ‘Trilateral talks among India, Pak, J&K’

Jammu | Nov 29
State unit of Bhartiya Janta Partya has strongly criticized the so called new hypothesis of experimenting with Jammu and Kashmir as once again the Communist Party of India (CPI) on November 18 sought trilateral talks among India, Pakistan and the state of Jammu and Kashmir for expediting the settlement of Kashmir issue.
Former state president and senior BJP leader Dr Nirmal Singh talking to the Early Times said, “BJP strongly condemns the new concept minted only to take the people on a ride.’ Referring to the ANC’s stance on the Trilateral Talks, Dr Singh said, “It came up with this slogan somewhere in 1989 to woo the people and get noticed in political avenues of the state when the National Conference, Congress and BJP were the key players in the state politics.
But it is surprising the CPI harmonizing with the ANC, the BJP senior leader who also holds the post national executive said, “it is sheer betrayal to the people of state and India as well since the Parliament Resolution 1994 agreed by political parties including CPI says issue of PoK would be resolved bilaterally.’ When asked that in a statement on November 27, CPI’s endorsement to ANC’s initiative, Dr Singh said, “I wonder, under what political compulsions CPI has tuned itself to the ANC.’
It is to mention that Secretary, National Council of CPI who was addressing Kashmir regional conference of the party on Nov 18, Shameem Faizee said: "CPI is for a more positive interaction among the democratic forces of India, Pakistan and of course Kashmir for a permanent settlement of Kashmir problem." Faizee who demanded continuation of the Confidence Building Measures to the contrast of the targeted Congress-PDP coalition government that played a key role after NDA government in initiating CBMs and described the coalition for failing on all fronts.
When asked about the major development on November 27 when Communist Party of India (CPI) formally had come up an endorsement to the proposal put forward by the Jammu and Kashmir Awami National Conference (ANC) urging the Government of India to appoint a group of independent observers to oversee the conduct of forthcoming Assembly elections in the politically-sensitive state of Jammu and Kashmir, Dr Singh categorically said, “BJP would never accept such initiatives and outrightly rejects it,’ and added ‘CPI since 1947 has been following different strategies to other political parties on the Jammu and Kashmir issue.:
For inept the assurance to ‘Trilateral Talks’ was given by CPI general secretary AB Bardhan to Muzzafar Shah, Senior Working Committee Member of the Jammu and Kashmir Awami National Conference during a meeting in National capital on November 27 as per the reports.
Meanwhile MY Tarigami CPI(M) MLA and senior communist leader plainly rejected to comment on the stance of CPI but preferred to say that when peace processes initiated previously have become slow and at this crucial juncture it is the need of hour to give them a push instead of indulging in other things.
