| Farooq Abdullah inaugurates painting exhibition on Shaivism | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Nov 30 Former Chief Minister and Member Parliament Dr. Farooq Abdullah today inaugurated a painting exhibition at Kala Kendra, Jammu. The paintings in the exhibition have been portrayed by Mr. Gokul Dembi, a renowned painter of the region. The function was organized by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL). While, appreciating the paintings of Mr. Gokul Dr. Abdullah said that state has produced artists and painters of national repute. He said the elegance depicted in the painting of Mr. Gokul on Shiva-Sutra shows his imagination, dedication and love to Shaivism. He said that Shaivism has played a very significant role in the intellectual and spiritual evolution of Kashmiri people. He also appreciated the role of Academy of Art, Cultural and Languages for providing the platform to artists. Vice Chancellor Jammu University Prof. Amitabh Mattoo who was guest of honor on the occasion said that J&K state is fertile land which has produced best painters, writers, intellectuals. Mr. Gokul, he said is one among them who has portrayed various shades of Lord Shiva through creative art. Earlier, Secretary JKAACL Dr. Rafeeq Masoodi said that this exhibition is a part of Golden jubilee celebrations of Academy. He highlighted activities of the academy in the field of Besides local artists, painters, sculptors, prominent citizens also witnessed the function. |
