| Govt open to make labour laws more labour friendly: Mangat | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Nov 30 Any amendment needed to the existing labour laws enacted in the state would be considered for making these more pro-labour and applicable to safeguard the interests of labours and ensuring better economic growth in the state. This was stated by the Minister for Labour and Employment Pt. Mangat Ram Sharma during his interaction with deputations of Federation of Industries of Jammu and Federation Chamber of Industries Kashmir who called on him here today. Labour Commissioner Mr. Prithpal Singh was also present. Pt. Ji said that labour and company laws should have consonance while making their applicability to protect the rights of labour force and interests of industrialists. At the same time Pandit Ji said that in abolition of child labour the industrial unit holders as well as common people have an imperative role and added that the children should not be encouraged to get engaged as labours or domestic helpers. Sharma said that the matter brought to his notice regarding to the criterion for provident fund purposes for tiny and small-scale industrial sector in terms of engaged workers would be considered. He said that if it is necessary to eliminate any differentiation between the central and state laws the matter would receive a serious attention by the government to make these correlative and more effective. Pandit Ji gave patient hearing to other demands of the deputationists and said that these would also be taken up for consideration. He directed the Labour Commissioner to have a cordial relationship with the industrialists for effective implementation of labour laws and speedy industrial growth besides ensuring zero percent engagement of under age workers. The deputations were led by Chairman Federation of Industries Jammu Mr. Anil Suri and Chairman Federation Chamber of Industries Kashmir Mr. Shakeel Qalander. |
