| Empowering women, 30 trained at Shakti Sadan | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | 1 Dec Over thirty women were trained in different vocational trades during three month training at Shakti Sadan an Army vocational centre established to empower rural women. President Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA), Counter Insurgency Force (Uniform) Mrs Usha Panjikar,distributed the certificates to the out going batch at Vocational Training Cum Women Empowerment Centre. During the three month training each candidate was imparted vocational training in five major disciplines including Tailoring, Knitting, Candle making, Food Processing and Computers. In addition, all students were given women empowerment training in Personal Grooming, Handicrafts and Aganwari aspects. Women Trainees were upbeat and confident as they prepare to get back to their villages. Interacting with the out going trainees, Mrs Panjikar asked them to go back to their villages, train and encourage other weak and needy ones to join the training in 'Shakti Sadan'. She said training in Shakti Sadan will help in ultimate empowerment of women in the remotest areas of Jammu and Kashmir. She said training of the Fourth batch would be started to commence from 14 January 2008. |
