| First ever cricket match between SA boys and local boys | | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | Dec 1 Going on with their exercise of promoting sports tourism, kashmir sports tourism organised friendly matches between South African school boys and the local boys here today. Minister of tourism Dilawar Mir, inaugurated the match and patted the players of both the teams. It is foer the first time in valley, that school boys fromn some foreign country are playing with the local boys on kashmir soil. "I hoped that such endeavors would help valley youth to find a place in international level cricket. As cricket in Kashmir is very old, and people here are emotionally touched with the game," Mir said, adding that tourism department is geared to enhance the infrastructure in the state and said few more international golf clubs are comming in valley. Director tourim Faroos Shah while talking with KIP said that they are in a mission of promoting sports potential in ther valley. "We are focussing in youth and they can be prospective enough in giving boast to the sports tourism. We are bringing more and more foreign tourists in valley, to enhance our sports tourism potential," he added. The 29 visiting cricketers of Help Mekaar College Johansburg SA, who on a holiday trip to India, along with their coaches and school principal. They have already played in Delhi and after skipping their trip in valley they are travelling to three other places in india including Mombay. Today two simultaneous cricket matches between the visiting and local cricketers were played in the university campus ground and in DPS school ground. In the both the places sufficient facilities were put on place to make the game going smooth. The team manager K. Kong termed the trip as fantastic. "It is fantastic for our boys to play here with the local boys. It provides a chance for both the teams to meet new cultures and new people," he said. Local players were very happy to play with SA cricketrers."It is a dream comes true for us, as we got a big chance to play SA team on our soil," said Aatif Nabi, captain of local team. Ruark Vande Westhuizen, captain of SA under 19 eleven was excited to play here. "It is great experience to play with Kashmiri boys," he said. |
