| 0ver 90 pc target achieved under School Health Programme during Phase-1 | | | Vikas Sharma Jammu | Dec 1 Health authorities in association with the other agencies have covered over 90% school children under the School Health Programme, according to the reliable sources. Sources further added that about 3.0 Lakh children in 2649 schools will be covered under this programme. When contacted the Project Director, School Health Programme, Dinesh Gupta, told the Early Times that entire project comprised of three phases and in Phase-I, the children will be covered under a simple medical screening for various childhood and other genetic diseases. Under the Phase-II, the all those screened against any disease will be provided state of the art medical treatments in the SMGS hospital, Government Medical College and the ASCOMS Sidhra, he added. Whereas the Phase-III will cover the children to be treated for any critical or serious disease and such cases would be referred to the All India Institute of the Medical Science (AIIMS) New Delhi, Gupta claimed. He informed that under the Phase-I, which started from September 5, and is on the verge of completion around 251685 school children in government and private schools were screened. Officials statistics revealed that the Jammu district has been divided into 18 zones and these zones are further Sub-divided into the 437 centers, which would cover all the school going children comprising of the both the private and the government Schools. As per the records around 2649 schools will be covered and in which there would be 161154 boys and the 139789 are girls students during the current session will be covered under Phase-I. Officials said that a team of under the supervision of team of the senior doctors has been deputed from nodal agency Chief Medical Officer, Health Department (J&K) till date had diagnosed around 199945 school going children has been checked and about 116346 were treated on spot, by providing them the medicines free of cost. This number also included 18526 cases which were referred to base hospitals for further specialized treatment, which would be get treatment during the 2nd phase starts. |
