| Police rescues seven persons trapped in snow | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Dec 2 At least seven persons, who were trapped in snow, in Budhal area of Rajouri district, were today rescued by a special team of Jammu and Kashmir police with the help of locals.Official sources said that a group of seven Gujjars (nomads) were on their way from Shopian area of South Kashmir, to Budhal. The group, they told News Agency of Kashmir, stayed in a Dhok in Rupri area of Budhal tehsil on Friday night. "All of them were trapped inside the Dhok as are witnessed heavy snowfall on Friday night", sources said. Local administration alerted police, who deputed a special team to rescue the trapped civilians; sources said adding, "The police team with the help of locals managed to save the nomads, who were brought to Rajouri this morning". It was also reliably learnt that early army pressed a chopper to rescue the civilians but it failed to land in the area. |
