| Two short Hindi plays featured at Sunday Theatre | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Dec 2 Two new short Hindi Plays ‘Teen Pahaad’ and ‘Kabar Kas Kissa’ written by Mani Madhukar and directed by Balwant Thakur featured here today at Natrang’s regular series ‘Sunday Theatre’ which entered to the third month of its non stop performance. Both these plays were highly absurd, complex and symbolic in nature. Natrang Director Balwant Thakur, while explaining the concept of both the plays said that such difficult plays are very essential in raising the intellectual level of the audience . Though meant for intimate audience but such challenging master pieces of literature could serve as an ultimate treat for those who love to involve themselves intellectually, emotionally and spiritually into a performance as an audience, he added. He said with such productions both actors and the audience will grow to a greater extent. The first play ‘Teen Pahaad’ showcases a discussion between three friends who are all physically challenged. Confronted to climb a hill they argue the possible threats and in the ensuing discussion they unfold the while philosophy behind the biggest challenge. The lead players of the play included Gaurav Jamwal, Ankush Lakhnotra and Mohammed Yasin while the sound and light was creatively designed and executed by Neeraj Kant. The second play ‘Kabar Ka Kissa’(story of a graveyard) symbolizes how unknowingly people are pushing themselves to the graveyard undermining the God’s precious gift-life, we tend to indulge into such foolish and suicidal acts which automatically put us to a shortest route leading to our ultimate destination. Set at the backdrop of a graveyard, an old man who cleans the area unfolds the story of the occupants of the graveyards. In a symbolic manner the play reveals the had realities of life. Deepak Virdi in the role of an old man demonstrated his grip over the character and reflected maturity in living such a complex character. He was equally supported by Mohit Sharma who played the role of a policeman doing research on the suicidal attempts. The lights of the play were creatively handled by Gaurav Jamwal. |
