| DIG XI beats IT XI by 8 wkts in friendly tie | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Dec 2: Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) XI today registered an eight wickets victory over Excise and Taxation (ET) XI in a friendly match which was organized by the Roshni Cricket Academy at GGM Science College ground, here. Earlier, batting first after wining the toss, ET XI bowled out for 101 runs in 24.2 overs of the 25 overs match. In reply, DIG XI chased the target making 103 runs in mere 16.4 overs with eight wickets intact. Arafat Goni was top scorer from ET XI, who made unbeaten 46 off 55 balls with the help of four boundaries. J Singh was other batsman who reached the double figure adding 13 runs to the score. From DIG XI, Rajesh Gill and Naresh were the most successful bowlers who shared three wickets each. Shashi and Parvez Shahid bagged two and one respectively. Later, chasing a small total, DIG XI reached the required total in 16.4 overs for the loss of two wickets with Akshay Khajuria and Rajesh Gill contributing maximum of 39 (not out) and 34 runs respectively. Rajesh Sharma bagged both the wickets from IT XI. For his all round performance, former Ranji Trophy cricketer, Rajesh Gill was declared man of the match. Prominent among those present were Excise Commissioner, Abdul Hamid, Deputy Excise Commissioner, SA Bhat, Deputy Commissioner (Lakhanpur), Masood Raja and Deputy Inspector General of Police Jammu-Kathua range, L I Mohanty.
