Hostile firing: 2 more soldiers killed along LoC

Two soldiers were killed in yet another incident of `hostile fire' from across the border near the Line of Control, in Sunderbani area of Rajouri district, during the wee hours today.
Though officials were tightlipped over the matter and claimed that the soldiers were killed while foiling an infiltration bid by a group of militants at Dadal post along the Line of Control in Sunderbani, well informed sources said that soldiers fell to the bullets of Pakistan Rangers.
"The army personnel were deployed to remove body of a militant, killed in an encounter on November 28, which was lying in mine fields near a Pakistani BOP", sources said. "As the troops reached near the body Pakistan Rangers fired indiscriminately killing both of them on the spot", they added.
The slain soldiers have been identified as Hawaldar Nirmal Singh and Lance Naik Narinder Chowan of 12 SIKHLI both were posted at Dadal post of Sunderbani.
However, on the other hand an official spokesman said that a patrolling of 12 SIKHLI spotted the moment of a group of militants from across the LoC around Dadal post and troops challenged the group leading to an encounter. Two soldiers, they said, died in the encounter.
Defence spokesman Col S D Goswami confirmed the death of two soldiers and claimed that both of them lost their lives, when they foiled an infiltration bid by a group of militants from across the border.
PRO defence quoting the Army authorities further said that an infiltration bid which had commenced on 28 November 2007, in general area Sunderbani of Rajouri district has been foiled by the Army" adding "One militant was killed while two Army's Jawan have suffered fatal casualty in the operation and the operation is still in progress.
More than five soldiers have lost their lives in Poonch-Rajouri sector during the last one week.
