| Namgyal institute celebrates world disability date | | | Early Times Reporter Leh | Dec 3 Celebration of world disability day in remote areas like Ladakh is of much important as to focus the needs and problems of the physically challenged people and to make programmes for their welfare. This was stated by the executive councilor, education Tsering Norboo Lampa while addressing the world disability day function here today. The day was organized by the Namgyal Institute of people with disability (NIPWD) in collaboration with education department Leh and Ladakh vision group. The director, NIPWD, King Jigmet Wangechuk Namgyal, programme officer, NIPWD, Queen Spalzes Wangmo, chief education officer, T.K. Bhat, chief medical officer, Dr. Dolam Tsering, everester Hero Wangyal, officers of education department disabled children and other school children took part in the function. Appreciating the efforts and contributions of Namgyal Institute who works whole heartedly for the welfare of physically challenged children of Ladakh by providing Hostel, boarding and lodging facilities at Chuchot, Lampa said that such rescuing efforts is the prime need to support the disabled children for all round development. He said that maximum number of physically challenged children are getting education in government middle school chochut which is situated just annex to the hostel of disabled children, and the LAHDC has taken took up the case for upgradation of middle school to the status of high school. Lampa further said that LAHDC would take all necessary measures for development of disabled children and for their education. The director, NIPWD, King Jigmet Wanechok Namgyal is his welcome speech said that NIPWD has established a hosted for the welfare of disabled children at Chouchot where 21 children are presently accompanied. This hostel would be handed over to education department very soon to ensure better development of these children. On this occasion, a film show highlighting sealing of stock lacier-20,160 fts. By the physically challenged people of Ladakh was presented. |
