| Samphel, Namgyal call on Sonia Gandhi | | ‘Demand inclusion of Bhoti language in 8th Schedule’ | | Early Times Reporter

Tsering Samphel, Member Central National Commission for Scheduled Tribe, and P. Namgyal, former Union Minister and MLC Leh called on Sonia Gandhi UP Chairperson at New Delhi and put forth several demands including inclusion of Bhoti language in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution of India.
The two leaders also demanded constitution of a National Council for Promotion of Bhoti language under the Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs, up gradation of Central Institute of Buddhist Studies Leh to a Deemed University, immediate completion of Leh-Zanskar road and inclusion of Changpas and Drogpas of Lakh under the Primitive Tribal Groups for their speedy up liftment.
According to a handout issued y the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes Sonia Gandhi is reported to have given patient hearing to the leaders with positive assurance. |
