| Gupta disputes claims of development, Khushali | | ‘Questions hike in Ministers, legislators salaries’ | | Early Times Reporter

Stoutly disputing the tall claims of development and Khushali being made by the ruling Congress leaders and its allies, the former Union Minister and senior BJP leader Prof Chaman Lal Gupta alleged that mere propaganda hype can’t change the ground realities, although large sums are being misused on documentaries, advertisements and other modes of publicity to hoodwink the people.
Addressing workers’ meetings at Danni Bakhta and Hiranagar today, Prof Gupta said that the only significant achievements of this Congress led government has been the salaries of the ministers and legislators as also that of some politicians have been raised from RS.12000 to over 43000 per month whereas the highly educated youths and technocrats recruited on contractual basis as also the SPOs are being paid just Rs.500 to Rs.1500 per month. ‘This speaks about their slogans of socialism and equal treatment to all’, he remarked.
Alleging that large amounts are being wasted on salaries and appeasement of certain ruling Junta’, the BJP leader said that ‘the revenue receipts from internal resources of the state were just about Rs.3000 crores in the total spending of over Rs.16000 crores’. ‘How ridiculous situation has been created, he said, can be judged that the salaries of ministers and legislators of this state are higher than even the Central Ministers and the Members of Parliament.
Holding the Congress leadership responsible for the malady created through the so- called special status granted to Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370, Prof Gupta said that this is generating the feeling that this State is something different from other parts of the country adding that in fact Article 370 was mainly responsible to develop a sense of separatism, fundamentalism which ultimately gave birth to terrorism.
About the much claimed revolutionary step of Roshni Act, the BJP alleged that the measure was adopted to help the encroachers, mostly high ups and politicians. |
