| Motorcyclist knocked to death, another wounded | | Mishap sparks protest in Hiranagar, locals torch bus | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Dec 3 Protest demonstration rock Hiranagar area when a motorcyclist was knocked to death and his pillion rider wounded by an over speedy bus near Chaper Morh, late last night. Police said that an over speedy bus (DL-IP/7319) hit a motorcycle, which was on its way to Hira Nagar, resulting in on the spot death of the motorcyclist and injuries to its pillion rider. The decease has been identified as Rakesh Kumar son of Ram Krishan resident of Tamyal and injured pillion rider as Ashwani Kumar son of Manohar Lal of Badial who was shifted to SDH Hira Nagar for treatment. Eyewitnesses told News Agency of Kashmir that the local residents staged a protest demonstration soon after the accident. The protestors went berserk and set ablaze the offending vehicle. A senior police officer said that a police team immediately reached to the spot and brought the situation under control. Driver of the bus, who fled from the spot, after the mishap reportedly surrendered before the police, this morning. Police said that it has registered a separate case under section 147,148 and 435 RPC against the persons responsible for setting the bus on fire. |
