Jammu | Dec 3: Taking 15 wickets in mere two sessions of the play, Haryana returned home in elation after inflicting a humiliating innings and 123 runs defeat on J&K in the Ranji Trophy Plate Group-B match which completed on the third day at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here today.
Resuming their innings from overnight score of 92 for five, J&K could not save itself from follow on and the whole side bowled out for 174 runs. Had Irshad Hassan not played a superb knock of 51 (off 72 balls, 7x4), J&K innings might not have touched the 150 runs mark. It was due to the superb bowling spells by alrounder Sachin Rana and spinner Amit Mishra that brought an early end to J&K innings taking away the last four wickets.
Following on to Haryana’s 404 runs, likewise first innings, J&K made a bad start with both openers, Ian Dev Singh and Parminder Singh losing their wickets cheaply. Finding the hosts in a state of pressure and confusion, it took Haryana less then three hours to bundle out J&K for a partly total of 107 runs. Except for the Kashmir boys, Samiullah Beigh (22), Arshad Bhatt (16) and Majid Dar (14), no other batsman from J&K could touch the double figure mark.
Gourav Vashisht emerged as most successful bowler from Haryana in the second innings. He took five wickets for 22 runs in 12.5 overs while Jitender Billa and Amit Mishra shared three and two respectively.
For their outright victory, Haryana got six points, including one bonus point. J&K is yet to open its account in the ongoing Ranji season. J&K lost to Railways in a similar fashion (an innings and 80 runs) at Delhi. On the home ground, J&K have been beaten by Madhya Pradesh by four wickets and lost to Jharkhand by 250 runs in the third match.
Now, in the fifth and last match of the season, J&K shall take on Goa on December 9 at the same venue. The tough side of Goa has already defeated Haryana so it is going to be another tough battle for the J&K.
