| Tarigami suggests for SRC to rehabilitate the disabled | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Dec 3 CPI (M) State Secretary and MLA Kulgam Mr. M. Y. Tarigami has urged for setting up of State Rehabilitation Commission (SRC) for the rehabilitation of disabled and distressed people in the state. He said that the setting up of such a commission would not only suggest measures for providing succour to the deserving but would also be instrumental in the implementation of the welfare schemes meant for the disabled and physically challenged people and ensuring speedy justice them at all level. Tarigami on the eve of world-disabled day in a statement said that the disabled persons should be provided prescribed reservation quota in recruitments as well as promotions. He said that physically challenged persons deserve every help and encouragement from the government as well as civil societies and general people. Tarigami said that due to the prevailing turmoil going on in the state for nearly two decades, the numbers of disabled and distressed people have increased manifold. In view of this fact he suggested the government to come out with well-defined and positive rehabilitation policy for the handicapped and take all measures to rehabilitate the disabled and other militancy hit victims in the state. He also said that the social welfare schemes meant for disabled people should be made more result oriented and befitting to the deserved. |
