| Al -Br Commander gunned down, 5 OWGs arrested | | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | Dec 3: In a major success, a joint team of Police and CRPF today gunned down dreaded Al-Badar divisional commander Billal Afgani during an encounter at a far off village of Budgam district in Central Kashmir. Sources said that a joint team of Police Budgam and CRPF on specific information launched a combat operation late last evening at village Arth in Beerwah. They said the personnel during house to house searches came under heavy fire from a residential house. The lone militant who was hiding in the house fired indiscriminately at the approaching troops, sources said adding that the troops also took their position and retailed the fire kicking off a fierce fire fight. The holed up militant engaged the personnel for entire night. However the militant was gunned down the militant in the morning who was later identified as Chota Sheekal alias Bilal Afgani, the self styled commander of Al-badar out fit. The operation was still going on as they were looking for some more militants in the area. Meanwhile, Army claimed to have arrested five Over Ground Workers from Varnaw Lollab in frontier district of Kupwara. According to sources a team of 18 RR, on a tip off raided a house in the Varnaw village and arrested the five persons working as over ground workers with HM. The accused OWGs have been handed over to local police. |
