| Army nails officers involved in Siachen-gear pilferage: Antony | | | New Delhi | Dec 3
Army on Monday said it has initiated administrative action against three officers and three junior commissioned officers for alleged pilferage of special rations meant for soldiers serving in icy heights of Siachen Glaciers.
This information was given by Defence Minister AK Antony in Lok Sabha while replying to written questions.
Antony said Jammu and Kashmir Police carried out raids and recovered certain items of special rations from Chumathang, Tangtse, Hunder, Khalsar, Sasoma and Nubra of Ladakh district.
As many as 11 FIRs were lodged with the police leading to arrest of 31 civilians, he said.
The army ordered two courts of inquiry to investigate into the matter.
"Based on the first CoI for Chumathang, the Army Commander has directed administrative action against three officers and two junior commissioned officers," Antony said adding the second CoI was in an advanced stage. |
