The civilians, who were working as labourers in Kashmir valley, had set on foot from Shopian on November 29 to reach their native village in Kandi area of Rajouri, the officials said. However, they had to take shelter in a cave at Budhal following snowfall and heavy rains in the upper reaches of Pir Panjal, they added. As the villagers did not reach their homes, the matter was reported to the police which launched a joint operation along with the Army and rescued them, including a minor boy, from the cave yesterday. All the rescued persons were later taken to hospital for treatment. |
