| Shoot out at Manda: Criminal’s vehicle recovered | | | Early Times Reporter

The City police today claimed to have recovered the vehicle from Muthi migrant camp used by the criminal during the shoot out at a police party of Bus stand at Manda area yesterday.
The most wanted criminal Sameer Choudhary alias Saleem Sheikh alias Sunny son of Romesh Bawa resident of Rampura, Nai Basti, who fired some rounds on the police party managed to escape from the shoot out side and was reportedly evading his arrest. Sources said the police received information from informers that he had managed to flee from Jammu along with some persons in another vehicle. After parking the car in Muthi area, the trio are reported to be hiding at a picnic spot.
Sources said Sunny, the alleged criminal, planed to murder a criminal- turned businessman who gave up the criminal activities some seven years back and started business in the city. Police confirmed that Sunny was looking for Bittu Kabadia of Rampura and wanted to eliminate him. However, due to mounting police pressure, he was trying to leave the city for few days and return later to kill Bittu Khabadia.
Sources said that a politician was shielding the accused criminal and on October 24 last he had stayed at the politician’s residence for the night. Not only this, he and his three other accomplice, had been using the politician’s vehicle and making rounds around the criminal-turned businessman’s house for quite some time. Sources said Sunny is evading his arrest for the last several months and has reportedly shifted his locations more frequently including Chattha Farm, Katra, Vijaypur and Gandhi Nagar during this period. Sources said yesterday he planned to move out of State. When intercepted by Police at Manda, he gave a slip and ran away. Sources maintained that some more criminals helped Sunny to give a slip to the Police and took him to a safe place where he is since then hiding. Sources said the Sunny was neither injured in the shoot out nor the vehicle recovered was on his name. Sources claimed that the Police did not inform the Nagrota or Narwal police about running away of the accused criminal after the shoot out.
The reports further said that the criminal turned business too was not living in his residential houses for the last three months and his business establishment is also closed following reports that that the Sunny was planning to kill him and had even complained in the Court that the Police was unnecessary harassing him.
The yesterday incident has raised many questions that how can a criminal manage to flee from the police, who provided him the vehicle and who helped him to reach Jajjar Kotli. It may be recalled that Suny’s father who was also a criminal was murdered by another criminal several years back and from that day Sunny joined hands with a gang and is active in the criminal activities since then and is also known to be a politician’s yes man.
Sunny, according to police, was wanted in a murder case at Arina police station, two attempt to murder cases at Gandhi Nagar Police station and one each attempt to murder case at Bari Brahamana and Satwari Police stations. Besides, he was also wanted in several extortion cases in the city. |
