| Minister reviews functioning of SW, ICD Deptts. | | | Early Times Reporter Leh | Dec 4 The Social Welfare Minister, Haji Nissar Ali reviewed by the functioning of Social Welfare and the programmes being carried out by ICD in Leh district, in a meeting held here other day. Minister said that Leh district is comparatively far behind in covering beneficiaries under social welfare schemes and ICD programmes, and added govt. has provided adequate funds for the welfare of poor people, disabled, destitute, orphans and other physically challenged persons. Ali strongly emphasized the functionaries of Social Welfare and ICD authorities to make house to house survey in every nook and corners of the district to bring in maximum deserving people under the ambit of various social welfare programmes. The Minister urged upon the workers of social welfare and ICD to make themselves fully aware about the guideline of the schemes so that they may be able to deliver aimed service to the beneficiaries. In this regard, minister issued on the spot instruction to the Director Social Welfare Srinagar to conduct job training and re-orientation course to the Leh Social Welfare within days. Referring to the pending cases of opening 104 additional ICD centers for Leh district, the Minister assured that all the cases would be sanctioned and cleared very soon. Minister was told that 267 ICD centers are presently functioning in Leh and these centers besides providing basic care and nutritions to the Youngs also playing a vital role in giving productive pre-education to them. The Minister was also told that there are 1152 beneficiaries under social welfare schemes in the district, which include 379 people under Old Age Pension, 372 women under widow pension and 401 people under physically challenged pension. |
