Jammu | Dec 4
Lashing out at the blind attitude of the National Human Rights Commission, President Panun Kashmir Movement (PKM) Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo has alleged that barring lip service, the Commission has failed to redress the grievances of the displaced community The role played by NHRC post- 2000 is shocking and there is no implementation of its orders or investigations, he added.
Addressing media persons at the union capital today after arrival of the SANKALP YAYRA, which commenced on November 11 at Srinagar-Kashmir, Chrungoo said the NHRC should change its name to ‘National Hindu Reprimand Commission; which will precisely indicate the work they are engaged in"
Chruangoo said that the Yatra, which is being led by him is focused to highlight the issues of terrorism and ethnic cleansing and exodus of Kashmiri Pandit community at a national level. It has already covered the states of J&K, Punjab, Himachal, Haryana and the UT of Chandigarh. The members of the displaced Kashmiri Sikh community are also taking part in this 50-day national awareness campaign to bring to fore the human rights violations committed against the minorities in the Jammu and Kashmir State along with the present plight of the refugees of Kashmir, he added..
Chrungoo said that this 7,000 km Yatra is also aimed at to explain the relevance of establishment of a Homeland in Kashmir for the indigenous people of Kashmir -the Kashmiri Pandits. ‘The displaced Kashmiri Pandits have a right on the territory of Kashmir and through this long journey, we register our claim to be the first and natural party to any dialogue on Kashmir’, he said adding that the KPs have an inalienable right on the territory of Kashmir to which we belonged for the last thousands of years but have been forced to live as refugees in our own country. The Government of India is asked to initiate a dialogue with the representatives of the community for the establishment of their Homeland in Kashmir that besides other things shall pave way for mitigating the miseries of the refugees for all times to come, he said.
