Tehsil Budhal (Jammu and Kashmir) | Dec 4: Police in Jammu and Kashmir have rescued five labourers and a child who were trapped in the higher reaches of the state by heavy snowfall.
The group of six was travelling from Kashmir to Rajouri via high mountain passes. They were trapped for three days without food and water in the Tehsil Budhal area, located 50 kilometres from Rajouri district.
P. R. Manhas, Deputy Inspector General of Police, for Rajouri and Poonch Districts, said the stranded labourers were reached in the nick of time.
Mohammad Sadir, one of those rescued, said: "When we started descending it was in clear weather. Suddenly, it started snowing and we got stuck. A police official, who was there, then informed the administration about it."
The region has received heavy snowfall over the past few days.
