| BJP-Buddhist tie-up on cards in the state | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Dec 4 :A tie-up between the BJP and the Buddists in Ladakh is on cards.Decks were being cleared for the formation of a coordination committee of leaders of Buddhist Association and those belonging to the BJP in Jammu and Kashmir. In this connection a preliminary exercise was carried out by a senior Buddhist leader,Chewang Thupstan,member Lok Sabha,and senior BJP leaders in Jammu on Tuesday.BJP sources said that Chewang visited the BJP office in Jammu and had a detailed discussion with BJP leaders,led by the party Chief,Ashok Khajuria. Chewang gave vent to his feelings of dismay over the way the state Government continued to give a raw deal to the Buddhists in Ladakh.The BJP leaders expressed their solidarity with the Buddhists conveying to the Ladakh leader that the successive Governments in the state had fomental discrimination of Ladakh and Jammu regions.The result was that the bulk of central funds was being utilized in the Kashmir valley. Both Chewang and the BJP leaders expressed deep concern over the poor representation of people of Ladakh and Jammu regions in the state services,especially in the civil secretariat.The two decided to form a coordination committee for launching a joint agitation against the policies of the state Government. |
