| Secret-tie up between BJP and Yash Pal Sharma in Poonch fails to materialise | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Dec 5 :The move to forge a secret pre-poll ie-up in Poonch between the BJP and the rebel congress candidate, Yash Pal Sharma, has not materialized. A section of BJP leaders opposed a plan of withdrawing the party candidate in order to lend support to Yesh Pal Sharma. This set of BJP leaders argued that had Yash Pal sharma, approached the BJP before he filed his nomination papers after the congress denied ticket to him “we could have considered the option of not fielding any party candidate in Poonch.”. Hence the BJP has decided to campaign in favour of the party candidate. One report said that Yash Pal Sharma too has not been in favour of the BJP withdrawing its candidate. Sharma wants the BJP candidate to be in the field which he thinks could brighten his prospects. The BJP had plans of supporting Yash Pal Sharma only for the purpose of defeating the Congress and the National Conference candidates. However, BJP is not a force to reckon with in Pooch. In 2002 election its candidate had polled 641 votes and was the lowest vote gatherer among six candidates who were in the field. As such the contest is primarily going to be a triangular between the Congress rebel,Yesh Pal Sharma,Aijaj Jan of the NC and Jehangri Mir of the Congress. |
