| Chaman dubs Congress, its allies as ‘most communal’ | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Dec 5 VOICING ITS serious concern over the reports about the movement of Pakistani troops in forward areas coupled with the increasing bids of infiltrations and incidents of firing along the Line of Control in violation of cease-fire, the former Union Minister and senior BJP leader, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta stressed the need for remedial measures instead of lowering the guards under internal and external pressures. Addressing a meeting of the party activists at Kugwal after touring the border areas of Hiranagar today, Prof Gupta said the ceasefire was result of great diplomatic skill of Vajpayee led NDA government at the Centre that benefited the people of both sides of the borders and LoC over four years ago now. But the reports about war like preparations and increasing bids of infiltration are obviously a matter of concern especially for the residents living close to the borders and LoC. He said that Pakistan had never been a dependable neighbour but it was unfortunate that the leaders of ruling Congress had never a vision as result of which the common man had always been the sufferer. Lashing upon the Congress and its allies, the BJP leader dubbed them as ‘most communal’ and in this regard, particularly referred to the different treatment provided to the people of this state and rest of India. ‘ The voices of Autonomy, self-rule and Azadi, he said, breaded terrorism and religious bigotry to the extent that Kashmiri Pandits and other minorities were forced out from their homes and hearths in Kashmir valley. Prof. Gupta also questioned the Congress and its allies who ruled, Jammu and Kashmir in one form or the other for past so many years that why the people of this region have been discriminated against and made political subordinate by not granting them their due representation in various spheres of life especially in the State Assembly. In the Assembly Jammu has been given just 37 seats against 46 to Kashmir Valley when the voters strength of the two regions was almost equal and the geographical area of Jammu is almost double than that of valley. This onslaught against Jammu was launched by Sheikh Mohd. Abdullah with the tacit support of Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru in 1951, when Assembly seats were created with communal and regional bias, he said and added this political slavery is still being perpetuated because of communal mindset. He asked the workers to expose the policies and ethnic approach of Congress and its allies to get justice and equal rights for all people irrespective of religion, region and castes. |
