Jammu | Dec 4: The parents, who devote time and money to get their wards trained in the game of cricket, today cried foul play after the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) allegedly accommodated the kith and kin at the cost of deserving boys in the under-17 team.
It has been alleged by the parents in a handout issued to the Sports & Allied News that seven boys, who are either kin of JKCA office bearers or sons of selectors and cricket coaches have found berth in the team that too without following the selection process which lasted for over two months.
The handout said that those boys who have been named in the final team are blood relations of Tilak Singh (joint treasurer Jammu wing), Virender Sharma (SAI cricket coach), Shyam Saroop Kalsotra (vice-chairman Jammu wing), Sunit Sharma (joint secretary Jammu wing) and Des Rattan Dubey (selector U-19).
The signed statements of the aggrieved parents further alleged that on the day of team announcement it is found that only two players from the list of JKCA official coach, Jayanti Lal have been included in the selected list, which is an indication of how the Association is functioning.
The reliable sources told SAN that the parents had planned to protest in front of the hotel where the under-17 probable were staying but were pacified by the officials of the JKCA with a request not to speak to the media. When SAN spoke to the parents they pleaded not to be quoted.
Meanwhile, repeated attempts to contact the JKCA officials, including Joint Secretary Jammu wing, Sunit Sharma and general secretary, Salim Khan yield no results.
