| Private schools warned of action by Babu Singh | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Dec 4: Minister of State for Sports Babu Singh has warned the private schools of action if not mend their ways and continue to abstain from taking part in the inter-school competitions organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports the next time. Speaking on the prize distribution function of district sports meet at Police Lines Kathua the other day, Minister said, “by not sending the students to take part in the inter-school sports competitions, these private schools deny the talented youth of their right to excel.” Unhappy over the negligible participation from the private schools in the annual sports activities, Babu Singh said, “if it remains so the next time, the action will be taken against the erring schools.” Elaborating his point, Minister said that these privately run educational institutions charge games fund from every student, but in turn, hesitate to deposit the share with the Department of Youth Services and Sports thereby violating the guidelines issued time to time by the Directorate of School Education as also by the Directorate of Sports. “All private schools should deposit the prescribed games fund in the district office of Department of Youth Services and Sports as per the norms,” Minister said. Babu Singh made it clear to the gathering that he has already directed the District Youth Services and Sports Officers to issue the orders to private schools for depositing the games fund. |
