| JCO went berserk, arrested | | | Banihal, Aug.22 : Banihal police arrested a junior commissioned officer (JCO) of Jammu and Kashmir light infantry after he went berserk and damaged some shops in the market here, late last night. Official sources told News Agency of Kashmir that one Kartar Sing a junior commissioned officer in JAKLI and reportedly resident of Doda was going back to Srinagar where he is presently posted stayed at Banihal. Sources said that the JCO, who was drunk, went berserk and start pelting stones on shops in the market and also damaged some vehicles. The officer later fell unconscious, Local police party who were on night patrolling noticed him, informed their superior officers and a police party led by Sub-Inspector Ravi Singh overpowered the JAKLI officer and arrested him. It was learnt that the officer was on leave and was going back to his duties. When contacted SHO Banihal said that he was informed by some police personnel deployed in the main market for night patrolling about the matter. He said the a police party led by a sub inspector was deputed and the person who was later identified as Kartar Singh, Junior commissioned officer (JCO) of JAKLI No 593145 was arrested. Medical examination of the officer was conducted before he was lodged in police station. As per medical examination he has consumed large quantity of liquor. Police has registered a case and an FIR no 164 of 2006 U/S 510 RPC has been lodged against the officer in the police station. The commanding officer of JAKLI Rangrate has been informed about the arrest of JCO. |
