Thousands attend Dev’s Fateh Khawani

A large number of people attended the Fateh Khawani of late Muhammad Abdullah Dev Nadeem, father-in-law of Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and a prominent educationist and well known Kashmiri poet, at his ancestral graveyard Magarmal Bagh, here today. Mr. Dev died on December 02, 2007 at his residence at Hyderpora, Srinagar.
Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, his cabinet colleagues and legislators were also present on the occasion.
A Fateh Majlis was also held at the residence of the bereaved family. Prominent among those present included Governor, Lt. Gen (Retd) S.K. Sinha, Chief Minister of Haryana Mr. Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Union Minister of State for Urban Employment and Poverty Alleviation Kumari Selja, former Chief Minister and Member Parliament Dr. Farooq Abdullah, Ministers Mangat Ram Sharma, Abdul Aziz Zargar, Taj Mohi-ud-Din, Tariq Hameed Karra, Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed, Gulchain Singh Charak, Mohammad Dilawar Mir, Mohammad Khalil Band and Babu Singh, legislators Mr. A.M. Sagar, A. G. Vakil, Yogesh Sawhney, former Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bashir Ahmad Khan, Advisor to Chief Minister Manzoor Ahmad Ganai, representatives of Valley Citizens Council, leaders of various political parties, social and religious organizations, prominent citizens from all sections of society. Mian Bashir Ahmad also visited the residence of the deceased today and paid condolences to the bereaved family and Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad.
Representatives of various religious, social and political organizations on the occasion paid rich tributes to late Dev Sahib and recalled his dedication, sincerity and upright character. They prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul.
Highlighting the qualities of late Dev Sahib, the speakers said the deceased left an indelible impression on the minds of his friends, colleagues and admirers besides students.
Late Muhammad Abdullah Dev Nadeem earned acclaim in the literary circles through his poetic collection “Soz-e-Dil” published in two volumes.
