| Poonch elections | | ‘Reject forces of exploitation’, Congress leaders urge voters | | Early Times Reporter Poonch | Dec 5 ‘URGING the voters to reject the forces of exploitation’, several senior Congress leaders said that Congress party alone could bring peace and stability in the trouble torn state and take it forward to new heights of progress and prosperity. Addressing series of elections meetings at several places today to garner support for its party nominee Jahangir Mir, Ch. Mohamed Aslam, Member Parliament, Minister for Rural Development Jugal Kishore Sharma, MOS Agriculture Aijaj Ahmed Khan, Vice Chairman Pahari Board Shabir Ahmed Khan, PCC Spokesman Ravinder Sharma, DCC President Poonch, Ch. Zaffarullah and Ch. Shah Mohammed highlighted the achievements of the coalition government during its five years rule and said that a sea change has been brought about on all the fronts. They said the coalition is credited to have taken some far reaching decisions including creation of new districts, constitution of Finance Commission, introduction of Roshni Act . These leaders said that the policy of the UPA led Government at the Centre and Congress-PDP government in the state ensured peace and friendship with neighboring country and the atmosphere of hatred and animosity has been changed into that of friendship, cooperation and peace, giving lot of relief to the people of the state. Referring to the development of the twin border districts of Poonch and Rajouri, the Congress leaders said that these districts received focused attention and a number of new projects envisaging faster development of the hitherto neglected areas have been undertaken, including that of Mughal road connecting Jammu with Kashmir Valley besides opening of new University camps at Poonch.. These leaders have urged the voters to ensure the victory of the party nominee for speedy development of the district which has remained neglected during the National Conference regime. |
