| Police Public Mela all set to take off on December 9: Khoda | | Arrangements given final touch | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Dec 6: Arrangements for one day Police Public Mel being held at Police Sports Stadium, Gulshan Ground on December 9, were finalized at a high level meeting held at the venue of the Mela here today. Director General of Police, Mr. Kuldeep Khoda presided. Chairperson, J&K Police Wives Welfare Association, Dr. Indu Khoda and other senior police officers and members of Police Wives Welfare Association also participated in the meeting. Director General of Police disclosed that various police welfare establishments and some voluntary organizations representing all the regions of the state viz. Jammu. Kashmir and Ladakh have arrived here to participate in the Mela and would set up their stalls to display their products in more than 39 stalls for exhibition and sale purposes for the general public during the Mela on reasonable and concessional rates. He said Mela being organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Police Wives Welfare Association would be inaugurated at 10 a.m. sharp on December 9 (Sunday) and will be opened for full day for the general public. Khoda impressed upon all the police officers and members of Welfare Association and Organizing Committee for coordinating efforts on previous experience to make the event a grand success. He enquired about the boarding and lodging facilities for stall holders and was informed about the arrangements made for their stay etc. He issued on spot instructions to make security arrangements in and around the venue of the Mela and also regulate the traffic and parking arrangements. Giving the details, Director General of Police Mr. Kuldeep Khoda said to make the Mela more attractive for general public who had shown keen interest in their participation in previous Melas since last several years, the association has decided this time to enhance the total number of prizes up to 2,152. He disclosed for this mega event Ist prize (Scorpio-1), 2nd prize Maruti Esteem-1), 3rd prize (Maruti-800, 3 Nos:), 4th prize (Motor Cycles-7 Nos:), 5th Prize (Computer Laptops-5 Nos:), 6th prize (Computer Desktops-5 Nos:), 7th Prize (Sony Handicam Camera-10 Nos:), 8th prize (Mobile Nokia-10 Nos:), 9th Prize (Colour T.V. 21"-5 Nos:), 10th Prize (Coloure T.V. 14"-5 Nos:), 11th Prize (Rs.500/- each for 100 ticket holders) and 12th Prize (Rs.100/- each for 2000 ticket holders) Elaborating the main objectives of the Mela, the Chairperson (JKPWWA) Dr. Indu Khoda said that in this mega event other highlights include Raffle Draw, stalls of Kashmiri embroidery, jewelery, cosmetics, Chinese furniture, ladakhi carpets, phulkari work, walnut and willow furniture, stationery and books, tambola, Kichen ware, rides and jhullas, lucky dip, cold drinks, veg and non veg eatables and magic show and entertainment programmes. The Director General of Police said the raffle draw for fabulous prizes would be conduced at 3.30 p.m. sharp and small children would be drawn from the audience present on the occasion to draw the raffle draw numbers for prizes of different categories and would be handed over to the prize winners on-the-spot. Later, the Chairperson, JKPWWA, Director General of Police along with senior police officers and members of association took round venue of the Mela and were informed by the AIG (Provision/Welfare) Mr. A.A.Kakroo, and Mela Nodel Officer, Mr. Rafiq-ul-Hassan, about fool proof arrangements made for the event for making it more attractive and captivative for the visitors. Among others the meeting was attended by all Members of JKPWWA, Inspectors General of Police Mr. K.Rajendra Kumar, Dr. S.P.Vaid, Mr. J.A.Makhdoomi, Sheikh Owais Ahmed, Mr. Navin Aggarwal, Mr. Ashok Gupta, Mr. Dilbagh Singh and other senior police officers. |
