Jammu | Dec 6: Districts of Jammu, Poonch, Udhampur and Kathua today qualified for the semi-finals of both boys and girls in the ongoing 20th State Volleyball (Junior) Championships organized by the Volleyball Association of Jammu and Kashmir at Mini-Stadium Parade, here.
In boys section, defending champion Jammu and Kathua entered the semifinals from Pool-A, while silver medalist Poonch and Udhampur made it into the last four stage from Pool-B. Now, in the semi-finals, to be played tomorrow from 11 am onwards, Jammu shall take on Udhampur whereas Poonch shall be locking horns against Kathua for the final berth.
Earlier, Jammu topped group-A winning all the five games, followed by Kathua at No. 2 position with three wins. In group-B, Poonch topped the pool with four wins and Udhampur was at No.2 position winning three matches.
In the girls section, Jammu, Udhampur, Poonch and Kathua have qualified for the semi-finals. Earlier, in the quarterfinals, Jammu defeated Budgam in straight sets while Udhampur trounced Anantnag again in straight sets. Poonch won their quarterfinal match against Rajouri and Kathua outplayed Srinagar 2-0.
