| Shiv Sana (U) activists burn effigy of Agri Minister | | Decries non-availability of hybrid seeds, fertilizers | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Dec 6: Coming down heavily on state government for its failure in providing seeds and fertilizers to farmers of Jammu and Kashmir, Shiv Sena United on Thursday, stressed upon the authorities to make hybrid seeds and fertilizers available for farmers so that they can cultivate their lands in time. The activists of Sena took out a procession and burnt effigy of Agriculture Minister to register their protest against the 'careless approach' of government which has created lot of trouble for farmers across the state. Addressing the party acitivists, Shiv Sena United state President, Rajesh Kesri said that farmers across the state are harassed whenever they approach the concerned authorities for fertilizers and seeds. "Casual approach of authorities can be assessed by the fact that centre has sanctioned thirty five thousand tones of D.A.P fertilizers but only seven thousand ton has been provided in the month of November," he said. He further said that other than the mudslinging at each others, the concerned departments do nothing substantial to make fertilizers and seeds available for farmers across the state. "Despite knowing the fact that this is a cultivation season and farmers are handicapped without seeds and fertilizers, the government is doing nothing in this regard," he added. Those present on the occasion included Rahul Sharma, Parveen Gupta, Arun Kumar, Ajay Kumar, Gian Chand Toofani, Gurmeet Singh, Surinder Jandial and others. |
