| PKM sponsored Sankalp Yatra reaches Jaipur | | ‘KP’s should be the first party to any dialogue on Kashmir: Utpal Kaul | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Dec 6 The Panun Kashmir Movement (PKM) sponsored Sankalp Yatra, which commenced on November 11 last at Srinagar-Kashmir, reached Jaipur, Rajasthan last evening. The Yatra, led by the President of PKM, Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, is focused to highlight the issues of terrorism, ethnic cleansing and exodus of Kashmiri Pandit community at the national level. It has already covered the states of J&K, Punjab, Himachal, Haryana and the UTs of Chandigarh and Delhi. The members of the displaced Kashmiri Sikh community are also taking part in this 50-day national awareness campaign to bring to the fore the human rights violations committed against the minorities in the Jammu and Kashmir State along with the present plight of the refugees of Kashmir. Addressing a joint news conference, Utpal Kaul and Rakesh Handoo, President, Rajasthan Kashmiri Visthapit Samiti said the 7,000 km Yatra is also aimed at to explain the relevance of establishment of a ‘HOMELAND’ in Kashmir for the indigenous people of Kashmir -the Kashmiri Pandits. ‘The KPs have a right on the territory of Kashmir and through this long journey, we register our claim to be the first and natural party to any dialogue on Kashmir’ PKM leaders said adding that KPs have an inalienable right on the territory of Kashmir to which we belonged for the last thousands of years but have been forced to live as refugees in our own country. These leaders said the issues pertaining to Kashmir and Kashmiri Pandits are directly connected with the issues pertaining to the national security and this Yatra is bound to create an awakening among the masses of India about these issues. Earlier, on its arrival the Yatra was welcomed in Delhi by AIKS President, M. K .Kaw, KSS President, J .N. Kaul and some NGOs, besides the members of Kashmiri Pandit community in and around Delhi. A meeting of the prominent Kashmiri Pandits was also held at Jaipur in this context today which was briefed about the aims of this Yatra, a PKM handout said. |
