| Heena adjudged winner in elocution | | | Early Times reporter Jammu | Dec 7 In the intercollegiate/departmental elocution competition organized by the Dean student welfare Jammu University, Heena Jain and Astha Nagpal both from the Govt. College of Engineering and Technology bagged first and second prize respectively while Sanjay Kumar from Vimal Muni College of Education bagged third prize in the said contest. The topic of the contest was “women’s liberation –An approach of the contemporary thinkers and Gandhi-vinobas special contribution to the concept.” The contest was adjudged by Prof. Ved Ghai and Jagdish Chander. Expressing their views, the participants said that the ultimate goal of empowerment of women based on Gandhi’s vision is “Survodaya” the welfare of all through cooperation and trusteeship in the economic sphere, equal participation in political sphere and mutual aid in the social sphere without regard to caste, class or gender. Earlier, Dean Student Welfare, Dr PS Pathania in his welcome address listed the forthcoming programmes and competitions of the department. Heena Jain, the winner of the contest shall represent the university in the 34th kamalnayam Bajaj Memorial Inter University National Elocution contest to be conducted by Shiksha Mandal in Mahrashtra from Jan 9. The participants who participated in the contest include Archana Bhatt, Priya Sharma, Sonia Sharma, Sanjay Kumar, Manisha Sharma, Dimple Sharma, Mamta Yadav, Meenakshi Manhas, rajni Gupta, Rachna Sharma, Sheikh Manzar Ali, Art Kapoor and Anjali Thakur. The programme was conducted under the supervision of Vijay Atri, Asstt. Dean Cultural affairs. |
